Who we are
Signalgist is a website readiness service operated from Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. We help local businesses improve the technical foundations of their websites so they are easier for search engines and AI-powered discovery tools to access and understand.
If you have questions about this policy, contact us at steve@signalgist.com.
Information we collect
We collect information you provide directly to us:
- Free website check form: Business name, website URL, and email address.
- Paid service onboarding: Business name, website URL, email address, phone number, physical address, service area, business hours, social media profiles, and temporary website access credentials you create for us.
- Communications: Any information you include when you email us or respond to our messages.
We also collect limited information automatically when you visit our website:
- Server logs: Your IP address, browser type, referring URL, pages visited, and the date and time of your visit. These are standard web server logs maintained by our hosting provider.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Review your website and respond to your free check request
- Communicate with you about our services
- Perform the website readiness work you hire us to do
- Generate your before-and-after readiness report
- Provide ongoing monitoring if you subscribe to that service
- Improve our service and resolve technical issues
We do not use your information for advertising. We do not sell your information.
Website scanning
Our service involves scanning publicly available pages of your website. The free check reviews only public information that any visitor or search engine could access. If you hire us for the paid service, we access your website’s administrative area using the temporary credentials you provide, make the agreed technical changes, and remove our access when finished.
We store scan results to produce your readiness report and, if you subscribe to monitoring, to detect changes over time.
How we share your information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers: We use third-party tools for hosting, email delivery, and website scanning. These providers process data on our behalf and are contractually required to protect it.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, court order, or government request.
- Business transfers: If Signalgist is acquired or merges with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
Data retention
We retain your information for as long as needed to provide our services and fulfill the purposes described in this policy. Specifically:
- Free check submissions: Retained for up to 12 months after your last interaction with us, then deleted.
- Paid service records: Retained for the duration of our business relationship plus 3 years for legal and tax purposes.
- Temporary website credentials: Deleted or access downgraded immediately upon completion of the agreed work, or within 30 days of project completion at the latest.
- Monitoring data: Retained while your monitoring subscription is active, plus 90 days after cancellation.
Data security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. These include encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure credential handling, and limited access controls. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We never ask you to send us your personal website password. For paid services, we ask you to create a separate, temporary administrator account for our use, which we remove or downgrade after completing the work.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate information.
- Deletion: Ask us to delete your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements.
- Opt out: Unsubscribe from our communications at any time by replying to any email or contacting us directly.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at steve@signalgist.com. We will respond within 30 days.

We do not sell personal information. To exercise your CCPA rights, contact us at steve@signalgist.com.
